GOLD
& GHOSTS – Volume 1 (Western Australia)
This
book contains 326 pages, 27 chapters and over 100 maps. The first four
(4) chapters of this volume deals with: (a) Gold in History (b) What
is gold? (c) Origin of gold nuggets (d) Types of gold found (e)
Prospecting methods (f) New innovations (g) Metal Detectors (h) Where
to prospect.
Details
of the following goldfields are covered:
Kimberley
, West Kimberley, Pilbara, West Pilbara, Ashburton, Gascoyne, Peak
Hill, Yalgoo, Murchison, East Murchison,
Mount
Margaret, Coolgardie, North Coolgardie, North-east Coolgardie, East
Coolgardie, Yilgarn, Broad Arrow, Dundas,
Phillips
River, plus a general rundown on the State. A chapter is devoted to
survival in the bush. A further chapter contains notes for interstate
and overseas visitors and the final chapter lists references and
indices. It also includes the Addendum.

& GHOSTS – Volume 2 (Western Australia)
This
volume is a continuation of Volume 1 and is designed to be used in
conjunction with same. It contains 382 pages 20 chapters with and over
130 maps. The first chapter deals with gold in Western Australia
followed with information on the following goldfields: Kimberley, West
Kimberley, Ashburton, Gascoyne, Murchison, East Murchison, Mount
Margaret, Coolgardie, North Coolgardie, North-east Coolgardie, East
Coolgardie, Yilgarn, Broad Arrow, Dundas, Phillips River, North
Dandalup, Donnybrook ... plus a further rundown on many other
miscellaneous goldfields. The final chapter lists further references
and indices. It must be noted that the
information in Volume 1 is not repeated in Volume 2.
GOLD
& GHOSTS – Volume 3 (South
&
Central Queensland)
This
book contains 435 pages, 19 chapters and over 170 maps covering the
central and southern districts of
Queensland
from the Q’ld / New South Wales border to Bowen and more or less
diagonally to the corner of the south-west of the State. The author
has divided the goldfields into 22 Mining Districts which are as
follows: Southport,
Brisbane, Ipswich,
Warwick, Stanthorpe, Toowoomba, Cunnamulla, Quilpie, Gympie, Nanango,
Eidsvold, Bundaberg,
Gladstone, Mount
Morgan, Rockhampton, Clermont, Mackay and Bowen. Each of the Mining
Districts is then divided again into each known goldfield.
It also includes the Addendum.
GOLD
& GHOSTS – Volume 4 (North & North
Western Queensland)
This
volume contains 616 pages, 13 chapters and 215 maps covering the area northwards
from the south-west corner of the State and more or less diagonally to
Bowen (being the balance not covered in Volume 3). This massive book
follows the same format as Volume 3 covering 19 Mining Districts which
are as follows:
Charters Towers
(including Ravenswood), Cloncurry,
Mt.
Isa
, Townsville, Ingham, Innisfail, Herberton,
Georgetown,
Cairns, Mareeba (including Croydon), Mossman, Cooktown (including the
Palmer
River
and areas north) and finally
Thursday Island. Each of the Mining Districts is then divided again into each known
goldfield.
