The Bounty Hunter name changed hands and over the past couple of decades, First Texas Products LP, in El Paso, Texas, U.S.A. has been designing a brand new range of microprocessor Metal Detectors, providing a top product for a low price. Any Bounty Hunter metal detector imported into Australia and being sold on the internet or otherwise by certain unauthorised people and companies  ... commonly referred to as "pirates" as well as "back-yard" companies (please contact us for details) or through other channels or even those detectors purchased and imported direct from overseas sources are not specially modified in Australia by us for ground mineralization and re-calibrated for discrimination. Those detectors do not carry the Australasian Warranty nor will they be modified and/or repaired by us.

WARNING !  If the metal detector does not have this special Warranty Card and a matching Australian Serial Number ... this indicates it has not been re-modified nor re-calibrated ... therefore it hasn't been purchased through correct factory authorised channels and has no warranty at all.

TRACKER IV

The TRACKER IV priced at only $295.00 is Australia's most popular metal detector for coin and treasure hunting, beachcombing and basic gold prospecting.  It represents the best value detector on the market today ... not forgetting the Bounty Hunter 5 Year Factory Limited Warranty! 

The TRACKER IV is a motion silent-search detector that features ‘Ground Trac’ ® Automatic Ground Balance that balances out iron mineralization in the ground as you detect. It is also re-calibrated by us for the worst possible ground situation that you will come across in Australia .  

This unit can also be used on wet sand whilst the coil can be submersed in either fresh or salt water without false responses. It has a simple on/off switch, which tests the battery condition when turned on. This control also doubles as a sensitivity control. In most cases this knob is generally set around the 3 o’clock position, but can be increased depending on ground conditions.

It features a three (3) way toggle mode switch. The modes of operation being: (a) All Metal -Centre position.  (b) Variable Discrimination – to the left … and (c) Tone Discrimination – to the right. The All Metal mode will (as it says) detect all kinds of metal whether it be ferrous (iron metal) or non-ferrous (non-iron metals) such as gold, silver, copper, aluminium, brass etc.

           

When the detector is used in the Tone Discrimination mode and adjusted correctly, it simply rejects iron metal with no audio response, and gives a low tone on 5c and 10c coins and some small gold rings, and a broken tone on the dreaded ‘beaver-tail’ aluminium pull-tab. A high tone will be emitted for more valuable items such as pre-decimal coins, higher value decimal coins, plus silver, copper and gold. When using the standard Discrimination mode, the Disc. knob can also be adjusted clockwise to null out (with no audio response) various junk items, such as steel and aluminium pull-tabs and still giving a high tone on other higher conductive targets.

If the detector is to be used for basic gold prospecting, the All Metal mode should be used. The detector has the ability to detect gold nuggets over 1 gram in size in most ground conditions, as well as through black sands using the standard 8” waterproof spider search coil. For detection of smaller nuggets from ½ gram to 1 gram, we recommend the use of the 4” waterproof closed coil. A simple 'step-by-step' instruction sheet is also included.

As previously mentioned, the 'Tracker IV' has a self-adjusting variable discriminator ... not a pre-set jewellery setting as on some other brands of metal detectors which can reject valuable gold rings and other valuable jewellery items ... nor does it have a fixed depth setting which reduces the detector's depth !

The variable tone discriminator on the 'Tracker IV' allows you to accept these good targets like jewellery and rings and gives a separate tone on rejected items  such as most aluminium pull-tabs.

The TRACKER IV has also proved itself to be a good basic detector for gold prospecting too !

If the detector is used for basic gold prospecting, the All Metal mode should be used. The detector has the ability to detect gold nuggets over 1 gram in size in most ground conditions, as well as through black sands using the standard waterproof 8" spider coil. For detection of smaller nuggets from ½ gram to 1 gram, we recommend the use of the 4" waterproof closed coil.

The maximum depth is around 2 feet plus using the standard 8" coil. More depth can be achieved ... up to around 4 feet using the 10" coil.

The TRACKER IV also features an intensity meter that indicates the strength of the target and a low battery alert.

5 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

AUSTRALASIAN WARRANTY

For private / hobby use only

This warranty only applies to Bounty Hunter metal detectors purchased from us as the sole Australasian Importer of First Texas Bounty Hunter Detectors (FTP), manufactured in El Paso, Texas, United States of America.

The instrument is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 5 years.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state.

During the first two (2) years of the warranty period, the manufacturer (FTP) will at its option elect to repair or replace any components found to be defective under normal use without charge except for transportation costs.

During the third (3rd) to fifth (5th) years the manufacturer (FTP) will at its option elect to repair or replace any components found to be defective under normal use without charge except for labour and transportation costs.

This warranty excludes batteries, battery contacts or damage caused by inferior or incorrectly sized batteries or battery leakage, normal wear of search coil housing (coil covers should be fitted), cable breakage due to flexing. Also excluded is damage caused by normal wear, accident, misuse, tampering, negligent handling, abuse, unauthorised service, alteration, modification or prolonged exposure to corrosive compounds including salt.

This warranty is non transferable and is restricted to the original purchaser named on the Warranty Registration Card and is valid only if the Warranty Card has been completed and mailed to us as the Australasian Distributor within 30 days from the date of the original sale.

For any service required, simply return the detector (CONTROL BOX AND SEARCH COIL ONLY) accompanied by a detailed explanation of the symptoms of failure, freight pre-paid to our postal address which appears on this web-site.

Bounty Hunter metal detectors that are purchased for Industrial and commercial applications are only warranted for parts and labour for a period of 12 months.
