CEDRIC

CEDRIC  1996 Doug Tainsh / Treasure Enterprises of Australia

Doug was recognised as one of the leading cartoonists in the 'Australasian Post' for many years and drew this cartoon especially for us just before he retired.

He drew cartoons for 42 years .... 52 weeks of the year.

The cartoon shows Cedric the bushman, his dog 'Digger', and 'Albie' his old mate.

It is interesting to note that Doug wrote gags for Spike Milligan, Maurie Fields, Arthur Askey and Jim Berenson and scripts for some early Australian Television shows such as Matlock, Homicide, Division Four and The Sullivans.

Sadly, Doug has since passed away, but I know he will always be remembered by us all for his great comic strip and his Australian humour.

These are a couple of other "Cedric" cartoons:

And ... now for some more cartoons that may tickle your fancy !

Some of them are self-explanatory (and least I hope so) ... or perhaps you could caption them for us.

Hope you like them.

Yes .....  even Ned Kelly the Australian famous bushranger had a metal detector !

"Think of all the treasure you could find with that thing!"  ......  "Nah, I only want my car keys back"

"Wow!    A pull-tab!    Circa 1970, I'd say."      ...... You'll notice that metal detectors haven't changed much in the future !

"Scatterbrain" !!

Has this happened to anybody ???

...... said one goanna to his partner ......           (Unless anybody out there got a better caption for this cartoon ????)

This cartoon is for those "under-water treasure hunters" out there!

A keen treasure hunter who is health fanatic !

For those who don't get this "funny"  ..... "Nugget"  is a brand of shoe polish in Australia.

"This is it !!! ... I've found that treasure chest at last!"

Be careful ... you night-time treasure hunters ... you never know who's out there with you !

Watch out next time at the airport ... you could be next !

Even the ducks cop it .... if they want to fly south for the winter !

For those who like 'Competition Treasure Hunting' .... an excellent idea ... perhaps ?

Where do you go metal detecting now, Bob ?

Any caption for this one ?  .... please let me know.

This is one for "geologically minded"  (???)

By some of my treasure hunting and prospecting friends around the world .....  I'm generally referred to as an 'old fossil' too !

David
