Mary Watson and her 3 month old son who escaped Lizard Island in
a tank with a Chinaman (after the other Chinamen who looked
after her was killed by the Aborigines) whilst her husband was
away. They arrived on a lonely coral atoll in the Great Barrier
Reef where she died. Her diary of the sea voyage was found
beside her skeleton. This story also relates to her childhood in
Cornwall and the days of the Queensland gold rush. A fascinating
chronicle of courage and tragedy in the early days of Australia.
